Fair Housing requirements

There's a lot of talk about Fair Housing requirements, so I thought you might find it interesting to know who people have been complaining about and what are they doing wrong.

By far, the primary source of complaints are in the area of rentals.  According to data found on the National Fair Housing Trends Report .  Almost 83% of complaints were in this area, and only less than 3% were in the area of sales.

What have they been complaining about?  You may be surprised to find out that by far the largest area is a fair housing violation for someone who has a disability, followed by race, followed by "other".  The other category has many things that factor in, but the highest complaint in that category is source of income, which has become a very hot topic in the property management field as more and more cities are requiring landlords to accept Section 8 or other subsidies.

If you have any questions about how to stay Fair Housing compliant, we are here to help!
